Annual Report 2007

In August last year Moulton Parish Council made the decision, along with Davenham PC, to provide part of the funding for a Police Community Support Officer. This appointment supports the work of Moulton and Davenham Community Safety Action Group. Our PCSO, Richard Forster, will now be seen around the villages of Moulton, Davenham and Kingsmead. We think he will provide a valuable service to the community. See back page.

If you are bothered by antisocial behaviour, whether littering, dog fouling, or the behaviour of
individuals, you should call the Community Action Team on 0845 458 0000. If incidents are reported, then the Community Wardens, Police and PCSO can, and do, use the information you provide.

Minosus Ltd., the company storing waste in the Jack Lane salt mine, has applied to make some changes to its above ground activities. The Parish Council and the Minosus Liaison Group are closely monitoring these to ensure the best interests of Moulton residents.

For over two years Moulton and Davenham Parish Councils have been campaigning to improve the safety of the walking and cycling route to the County High School, Leftwich which runs alongside the A556. This year there have been a couple of ‘victories’ in the form of railings (although put up in the wrong place!) and the cut back of shrubbery at the start of the path (south side).

At last we have news on the funding applications for a revamp of the playground. We did not get as much as we hoped for, so plans have been cut back, but later this year should see the start of the work on the junior and toddler playgrounds. We hope to be able to put plans on the Parish Council website - www.moultonpc.org.uk.

Work on the Moulton Village Design Statement continues and a draft of the statement will be on the website in the coming months for community consultation.

For the second year running the Parish Council has awarded its Citizenship Awards. On 20th April the Junior Award, made in conjunction with Moulton School, was presented to two of its deserving pupils as nominated by their peers, Josh Baker (Year 2) and Ashlene Hudson (Year 6). The Community Group Award and the Individual Award will be presented at the Annual Parish Meeting on 22nd May.

Moulton has once again entered the Cheshire Community Pride Competition – judges will be visiting the village on several occasions from April through to July so please help our entry by not dropping litter, tending those gardens and generally helping to keep our village tidy.

Finally, following the recent elections, your ‘new’ Parish Council started business on 8th May. There are some vacancies so if you feel you want to improve the community you live in, then why not become a parish councillor? You need to be over 18 and free on the second Monday evening of the month. Contact the Clerk, Elaine Beech at clerk@moultonpc.org.uk or on 01606 888 015 for more information.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the ‘retiring’ Councillors and especially, on behalf of the community, to thank Janet Scott who has served on the Council for many years.
