Annual Report 2005/6 |
|
This year has been another busy year for the village of Moulton, with many new and exciting initiatives. After the success of the VE Day Celebrations last year the IMPPS Committee has decided to bring back Moulton’s Crow fair on Saturday 15th July. This will include the original Crow Dance, danced by the men of the village. The past 12 months have also seen the start of a regular Youth Group giving the young people of our village somewhere to meet, the opening of the Games Area on the playing field and the launch of a Rainbow’s Group for the youngest girls in the village. We are also working with a number of other groups such as the Police, Vale Royal Borough Council and local schools to address Anti-Social Behaviour. The group meets regularly, shares information and has had some success. We know there is more to do and remain committed to ensuring that the behaviour of a few individuals in Moulton does not affect the lives of the majority of our village. Last year we were recognised for the work we had done in this area by winning the Cheshire Police Community Safety Award for a community in Cheshire that was doing most to address Anti-Social Behaviour. The plaque recognising this achievement can be seen on the wall outside the Village Hall. . . |

Other Award winners in the village include Moulton School, who won School of the Year in a Cheshire wide ceremony last year, and two of the teachers, Mrs Cartney and Miss Shaw won North-West Teachers of the year awards. There was another excellent year for the Drama group wining awards in the Annual Rose Bowl awards For the first time this year the Parish Council has introduced awards recognising the contributions made to improve the village. The Citizenship Awards were given to the individuals and organisation that we feel has helped make Moulton The Junior Award, made in conjunction with Moulton School went to Charlotte Wynn, the Individual Award went jointly to Geoff Crompton, and Fran Bennett, and the award for the organisation went to Moulton Drama Group. On a personal note I have now reached the end of my term as Chairman of the Parish Council and will be handing over in May to a new Chairman. It has been a real honour to hold the office I’d like to thank my fellow Councillors, our Clerk, Elaine Beech, and the many people in the village who give up so much of their time and effort for the benefit of the community.
